HISTORY

Carl and Patricia Odhner founded Middle-earth Studios in 1976 and began touring the United States with a marionette show based on J.R.R.Tolkien's "The Hobbit". They've towed their eye-catching Hobbit House Theatre from coast to coast through over 40 states gradually evolving a unique form of story-telling, now known as Costume Storytelling.
Their delightful stories and puppet shows have been performed for millions of people at fairs, festivals, and amusement parks.

Current Artistic Director Gabriel Hazuda grew up backstage in the Hobbit House Theater speaking to the marionettes. He began working as a storyteller and puppeteer in 2005. Since then he has revived Middle-earth Studios' marionettes shows of the past in addition to creating new original string puppet entertainment for Knoebels Amusement Resort.

Stationary Theaters
The Time Machine Theatre has been making memories at Knoebels Amusement Resort for over 30 years. Generations of families have taken part in our interactive storytelling, and many returning guests consider the show a cherished tradition.
We are also proud to feature the only stationary marionette bridge in an amusement park in the United States. Since 2016, we’ve been reviving past productions and introducing new shows to delight audiences of all ages.

The Time Machine Theater
The Rainbow Castle has been bringing magic to The Land of Make Believe in Hope, New Jersey for over twenty years. Families often tell us that our costume storytelling shows are the highlight of their visit, returning again and again throughout the summer to step back into the story. Over the years, the Rainbow Castle has grown into one of the park’s most beloved attractions.
